Are there any tools other than OneClick LCA which currently allow/facilitate calculation of MEP system embodied carbon? Everything I can find about other tools appear to be limited to structure, envelope, and enclosure data. I’m trying to determine if there are any other viable alternatives as of now. Thanks for any and all input!

eTool. See more details [here](https://support.etoollcd.com/index.php/knowledgebase/breeam-2018-core-building-services-credit-available-in-etoollcd/) This article is related to BREEAM but the tool has the fuctionality to calculate MEP for embodied carbon and whole life carbon analysis applicable to rating schemes and regulations.

Laura,
As far as tools, not much exists beyond the work done by CLF in 2019. Intense modeling in LCA software appears to be the best way. LMN architects has an excellant summary of resources [here](https://lmnarchitects.com/lmn-research/14-mep-refrigerants-equipment-carbon), and MEP2040 just issued a thorough guide on modeling [here](https://www.mep2040.org/guide).

Hi Laura,

In terms of tools, I’ll echo what Bob and Henrique have mentioned - not much exists at this point in time, although there’s some great resources being published.

If you are focused on GWP alone, you could build your own tool in excel to estimate the lifecycle impacts of MEP elements following the method and assumptions within TM65 and TM65NA (by CIBSE/ASHRAE). Also, check out the TM65.1 & TM65.2 studies for estimates of the impacts of residential HVAC and lighting products.
