This excellent video from the Endeavour Centre explains upfront embodied carbon emissions from buildings, and shows how material selection can make the difference between a building with a huge carbon footprint, or a building that is actually a net carbon sink.

There is a special issue from Journal of Buildings named “AI-aided” Carbon Engineering in The AEC Industry\* that are welcoming ideas of using digital technologies to reduce the embodied/operational carbon emissions in the AEC.
