# Where would prototyping fall under a product LCA?

Hello -
I am trying to determine whether or not I should account prototyping in my LCA, and if so, where would it fall under?
Has anyone gone through this before?

I would add the materials used for prototyping and the emissions from construction and demolition into the appropriate LCA stages. My guess is that the materials for the prototype are not being kept up or replaced over the life span of a building, so you wouldn’t see much of the B stage emissions. I’d also guess that the amount of material used for prototypes is very low compared to the full building LCA, but if you do the math on this, please report back.

I would add them to stage A5 but I never include them myself
