Call for Speakers: AEI 2021 Conference

Hello everybody, I am organizing a session entitled Embodied Carbon in Buildings at the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) 2021 Conference to be held in Denver between April 7th and 10th, 2021.

The call for abstracts can be found here (due by June 30th). We are looking for a variety of perspectives and voices on the present and future challenges facing the design and construction industry surrounding embodied carbon.

Living Buildings: The New Frontier of Integrated Design

The Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI), in partnership with the University of Colorado Boulder, is pleased to announce the 9th Biennial Professional Conference for 2021.

The concept of living buildings has recently emerged as the new ideal for sustainable building design and construction. Defined as a building that generates all of its own energy with renewable, non-toxic resources, captures and treats all of its water, and operates efficiently with an uncompromising aesthetic, living buildings represent a new species of buildings that blends boundaries between the built environment and the natural world and necessitates creative, integrative engineering and architecture solutions to meet rigorous design challenges. Resonant with the American pioneer spirit, Denver is an ideal locale for hosting and facilitating a conversation on Living Buildings: The New Frontier of Integrated Design , where we will explore challenges architectural engineers of tomorrow must face beyond energy efficiency-related challenges related to carbon, materials, water, climate, and human health and wellbeing.

The conference will feature professional presentations on innovative practices of sustainable building design and construction and cutting-edge research in all disciplines within Architectural Engineering.

I look forward to you joining us in Denver next April!
