The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) represents the most aggressive action to combat the climate crisis and improve American energy security in our nation’s history. EPA’s Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Team intends to hire multiple highly motivated, collaborative professionals with a wide variety of skills to catalyze use of lower-carbon construction materials in federally-funded building and infrastructure projects and beyond.
What work will I be doing?
The EPP Team is slated to receive $350 million in IRA funding, through sections 60112 and 60116 of the IRA, to develop tools and guidance, provide grants and technical assistance, and build a sustainable marketplace for low-carbon construction materials and products and to guide $4.15B in related spending by the U.S. General Services Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation.
How much experience do I need?
EPA needs a wide variety of skills to launch this important work. Expertise and work experience related to industrial decarbonization, Environmental Product Declarations, Product Category Rules, low-carbon construction materials/products, building and infrastructure contracting, grants management, labelling program management, conformity assessment, marketing, standards development, stakeholder engagement, and climate change mitigation is preferred but not required. For this announcement, we are hiring individuals at the GS 12 and GS 13 levels. A separate announcement for opportunities at the GS 9 and 11 levels will be issued shortly.
