3 Public Engagement Webinars (March 2, March 22, April 19)
These are related to these two programs in the IRA:
$250 million for Environmental Product Declarations Assistance (SEC. 60112), to support the development and standardization of EPDs for construction materials with grants and technical assistance to manufacturers.
$100 million for Low-Embodied Carbon Labeling for Construction Materials (SEC. 60116) to identify and label low-carbon materials and products for federally funded transportation and building projects based on data available via EPDs.
In case you missed it, EPA will be hosting the first of three public engagement webinars this Thursday, March 2. This webinar focuses on the $250 million from the Inflation Reduction Act devoted to EPDs. Sign up below to attend.
March 2, 2023, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. EST: Reducing Embodied Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Construction Materials Prioritization and Environmental Data Improvement – This webinar will ask for feedback on how to prioritize construction materials and products and how to improve data on embodied greenhouse gas emissions through measurement, standardization, transparency and reporting criteria. Register here.
What types of support would help manufacturers develop EPDs?
How EPA can support greater access to product and facility specific data?
What EPA should consider in developing an embodied carbon label?
Then make sure you respond to EPA’s Request for Information (RFI) by May 1! Responses to the RFI will inform the prioritization of work and key design elements of EPA Inflation Reduction Act low-embodied carbon activities.
The RFI can be found here. More information on EPA’s support of these activities can be found here.
