Hey All. I am new to the Twin Cities and I am looking to pour some low-carbon concrete piers. Out in Oregon, where I am coming from, some concrete suppliers were swapping out portland cement for L1 cement. Also, not having many coal power plants out there, you could get blast furnace slag as an additive instead of fly ash. Finally, out in Portland Solid Carbon was starting to add biochar to some of their concrete mixes as an aggregate. I have read that this not only allows for some carbon to be locked away in the concrete, but it also increases durability. With the new municipal biochar facility coming online soon, I am wondering if anyone has been in contact with them about adding biochar to concrete locally. Grateful for any and all leads. Thanks.
