Product Environmental Profile vs. Environmental Product Declaration

,

I’ve been looking into EPDs lately and ran across a few companies with Product Environmental Profiles (PEPs) which they say are also known as EPDs. Does anyone have any experience with PEPs or know if they actually are EPDs? They reference ISO standards 14040 and 14044 in the writing and ISO 14025 in the list of references only.

Any knowledge is appreciated! Thanks!

Hello,

PEP is EU wide way of calculating product environmental impacts. The new EN 15804+A2 and PEP are aligned. Happy to take this off line . DM me if you wish.

Product Environmental Profile (PEP), also known by Environmental Product declaration (EPD), communicates the product’s environmental impact and performance based on Life Cycle Assessment.

A PEP includes:

  • Description of the product and its technical performance
  • Description of the assumptions that were used for each phase of the life cycle
  • Results of 18 environmental indicators are used to determine the life cycle assessment (LCA).
  • Product has environmental benefits
  • The Life Cycle Assessment is the basis of the PEP.
Feel free to contact us for more knowledge about these and for a Qatari based environmental consultancy

Hi Johanna. Thank you for this response. Would you share more in the thread, so others can benefit? Are PEPs only used for mechanical and electrical components or all building components? Are they in a sense the same as EPDs or are there any differences?
Thanks
