Mindful MATERIALS will be hosting a series of regional Pop-Up mMATERIALS Events across the US, starting in Charlotte, NC on April 4th at DLR Group’s office. These events connect mindful materials with mindful practitioners, and connect the dots between intent and action when it comes to materials.
Each event will be hosted at a local Architecture or Design firm’s office, and features a 3-part program: an exhibitor showcase, an education session (sometimes approved for AIA/GBCI CEU Credits), and a happy hour. The education session topics will vary based on the hosting firm - Charlotte’s educational programming will be focused on materials vetting for mass timber projects to reduce whole building embodied carbon. All events will discuss the Common Materials Framework and how this can be applied to consider holistic embodied impacts of materials (ecosystem health, social health & equity, human health, and circularity, in addition to climate/carbon).
