NBI submitted two proposals (steel and concrete) to the Washington State IBC code proposal process and the technical advisory group (TAG) is interested in hearing from designers.
Material manufacturers have shown up in opposition, which is to be expected. The TAG is looking for more than opinions. They want to hear from designers and contractors about how you’ve reduced embodied carbon in steel and/or concrete and the associated cost to projects. Also, if you have clients with carbon goals, would the code support their goals.

Attend the meeting on June 8th (11-3) and share your perspective.
Provide written comments here: sbcc@des.wa.gov. It is best to have someone read them for you if you’re not able to attend in person.
