The Hastings Resolution: Decarbonizing Concrete Through Local Government Action

On June 30, 2020 the OpenAir Collective and Hastings-on-Hudson Mayor Nicola Armacost hosted a webinar on decarbonizing concrete through local government action. You can watch a recording of the webinar here.

OpenAir Collective’s co-founder, Chris Neidl gave a comprehensive, succinct and informative presentation on “Why Low Carbon Concrete Matters to Climate” and “Why Local Governments Matter to Low Carbon Concrete”. You can view a copy of the presentation here.

Following the presentation was a panel discussion with Mayor Armacost and members of the Hastings Board of Trustees and Climate Smart Communities Task Force. The discussion centered around the development of the Hastings Low Carbon Concrete Resolution, the types of policies a resolution like this can inspire, and how the resolution is already leading to specific next steps in Hastings.

After the discussion there was an engaging Q&A session with the panelists fielding a variety of questions from the audience. As often happens, there were a number of questions that the panel was unable to answer during the webinar. To ensure that attendees receive complete and informed answers to their queries, the OpenAir Collective has created a forum to field any and all questions, comments, and ideas that were inspired by the webinar. You can access the forum here.
