Toronto becomes first jurisdiction in North America to put embodied carbon caps on new city-owned construction. A1-A5 < 350 kg CO2e/m2 for structure and envelope. New updated requirements in the City’s Toronto Green Standard v4 which is currently in effect. This level is optional for private buildings as a tier 2 (voluntary) level of performance. It is being considered for more broad implementation (potentially to a tier 1 mandatory requirement) when the next version of the TGS (v5) comes into effect, expected in 2025.
