I am developing a BIM-based LCA course to help the architectural community in North America. I would like to discuss and explore a collaboration to create a life cycle assessment educational curriculum at The Postgraduate level in design-oriented programs. Do you know anyone or universities that have established a comprehensive course on this topic? The course should blend the theoretical framework, best practices, and hands-on exercises to prepare students to conduct a thorough analysis and to see the complete cycle of the topic without promoting commercial license software.
Please contact me if you are interested. I appreciate passing the word to the interested colleagues.
Hi Jacob,
I passed those courses the first time offered at BCIT. That is not BIM-based. I appreciate your comment and knowledge sharing.
Best regards,
Mehdi
The next offering of the BCIT wbLCA courses (specifically XZEB 1166) are beginning to touch on working with BIM Models for LCA purposes. However, it’s part of a single lecture, far from a full course. There’s certainly a need for it though!
I attended that course series for the micro-credential on the first badge offered by BCIT. I understand your points. Thank you!
The gap is mostly none of the firms provide a complete functional BIM model to obtain a proper amount of material takeoff. There is a need for an appropriate set of bills of material before plunging in the LCA tool.
