CLF Vancouver: Embodied Carbon for Structural Engineers

Join us online on Wednesday, January 20th from 5 – 7pm for a joint webinar with SEABC and CLF Vancouver. The topic is on structural engineering and embodied carbon.

We have three exciting speakers lined up. All trained as structural engineers and involved in the Leadership Group of the SE 2050 Commitment program, they will discuss how crucial structural engineers are to reducing embodied carbon from our structures. They will also dive deep into how the industry is taking steps to address embodied carbon through the SE 2050 Commitment, case studies and design strategies.

Speakers

Michael Gryniuk , MSc, PE, is an Associate and Project Manager at LeMessurier in Boston, Massachusetts with structural design experience ranging from educational and healthcare facilities to high-rise residential and office towers. He spearheads LeMessurier’s efforts in sustainability design best practices and is Chair of the SE 2050 Commitment Program.

Lauren Wingo , MSc, PE, LEED GA, is a Senior Structural Engineer and Project Manager in Arup’s Washington, DC office, where she supports projects ranging from sculptural installations to 1,000,000 square feet renovation projects. Lauren supports her local DC community through her involvement as Secretary of the SE 2050 Commitment Program and through the Construction Codes Consulting Board Structural Technical Advisory Group.

Dirk Kestner , MSE, PE, LEED AP BD+C, ENV SP is a Principal and Director of Sustainable Design at Walter P. Moore, a global engineering firm focusing structural and infrastructure engineering. Dirk guides each team through a client inquiry process that produces bespoke sustainability goals for each project, and then leads the team to achieve those goals. Dirk is involved with the Program Mechanics of the SE 2050 Commitment Program and is a member of the LEED Materials and Resources Technical Advisory Group.
