Concrete is one of the most widely used construction material for all types of constructions throughout the world; and is far more produced than any other manufactured material because of its versatility and other characteristics. Since, it is the second largest consumed material on earth, the properties of constituent materials used in producing concrete and routine testing plays an important role in controlling the quality of concrete work in a consistent manner. Systematic testing of raw materials, fresh and hardened concrete is an inseparable part of any quality control programme for concrete works. This also helps to achieve a higher efficiency of the materials used and greater assurance on the performance of concrete in regard to workability, strength and durability. Many things can go wrong in concrete works i.e. from the supply of substandard materials, variation in sources, improper testing methods and placement of the concrete on the site.Performance of concrete is considerably influenced by the ambient temperature conditions. Hence, with the onset of summer, we need to take extra care and additional measures when it comes to concreting in extreme hot weather region.
